Mohammed Harun Arsalai is an independent journalist and political activist from the Bay Area of California, and co-founder of the independent media project, Documenting Afghanistan. Currently based in Fremont, California Mohammed has reported on U.S. social movements, police violence, and racism for Bay Area Intifada which he also co-founded. His recent work focuses on refugees, the War on Terror, and militant groups operating in Afghanistan.

The War on Terror was launched 17 years ago, but for Black and Indigenous people, it began in 1492

The War on Terror should be understood as having a much longer history that encompasses the repression faced by Black radicals in the US, especial Black Muslims but is essentially a war focused on the annihilation of resistance to white supremacist colonisation that started on this date back in 1492 with the conquest of Indigenous lands and the start of a “New” world.
